What is Atmospheric Chemistry?

Atmospheric chemistry is a multidisciplinary field that studies the chemical composition of the atmosphere and how it is influenced by the various biogenic and anthropogenic processes on Earth. Although a relatively new field of study, atmospheric chemistry has been gaining more attention these days due to its link with a wide array of environmental issues; most popularly photochemical smog, acid rain, depletion of stratospheric ozone and global climate change. Therefore, atmospheric chemists combine laboratory experiments, field studies and computational modeling in order to better understand the chemical processes behind these global issues in order to propose solutions to better the health of our planet.
